Poco is a sub-brand from Xiaomi that has launched the F1 as its first offering in the country. It has a 6.18-inch display with an 18.7:9 aspect ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top. Powering the Poco F1 is the Snapdragon 845 processor and it comes in different RAM and storage options. It has a dual camera setup on the back consisting of a 12-megapixel primary camera and a 5-megapixel depth sensor. At the front, it has a 20-megapixel selfie camera. The F1 runs on MIUI 9.6 on top of Android 8.1 Oreo. The phone packs in a 4000mAh battery and has support for Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 3. It is a dual hybrid SIM slot and has support for 4G as well as VoLTE.

Poco has finally unveiled the X4 GT, a phone that looks like a bit of a mid-range monster. It mixes the company’s X range with the GT gaming range to bring a phone that costs €379 (8GB/128GB) or €429 (8GB/256GB) but doesn’t hit the spec heights of the Poco F4 GT.
The 6GB RAM/128GB Poco X4 Pro 5G costs€299.99 (around £250/US$335, converted), while the higher 8GB RAM/256GB SKU goes for €349.99 (around £290/US$390, converted); rendering this latest Pro a touch pricier than its predecessor, out the gate. This is most likely a result of incorporating 5G from the get-go.

As we’ve come to expect from Poco, the X4 GT is a perfectly capable phone that puts performance and price above flashier features. Day to day usability makes all the difference at this end of the smartphone spectrum, with some budget models being little better than e-waste. That’s absolutely not the case here.
The X4 GT, however, doesn’t quite live up to those expectations. But don’t write it off just yet: there’s a lot to like and you might well be happy to accept some of the compromises if you value the things that are truly great about this phone. And there are quite a few of those.
It therefore depends what you want from your phone. It could be a good option for anyone looking for an affordable gaming phone, but if you’d trade some performance for an OLED screen and better cameras, there are other options (including the aforementioned Poco X4 Pro 5G). Admittedly, most rivals cost more than the X4 GT, so if you’re on a strict budget and can live with the negative aspects, it’s very good value indeed.
