The Samsung GALAXY Z Fold 4 is a beast of a phone. It’s the best foldable phone we’ve seen to date. It was just another one of many uninspiring foldable phones that have been announced over the past few months. But now that we’ve reviewed it and tested its features, it stands out as one of the most exciting devices coming in 2022. It has everything you would expect from a high-end smartphone: an impressive quad-HD display, top-notch camera, long battery life and fast charging capability; all housed in an attractive frosted glass exterior case.
An Impressive Display
The GALAXY Z Fold 4 has a massive 7.6-inch display housed in the front of the device. This screen is the highlight of this device. Unfortunately, a lot of other foldable phones have very small, low-resolution displays. To put the GALAXY Z Fold 4’s massive screen in perspective, it’s almost as large as two iPhone Xs, side-by-side. Samsung claims this is the biggest ever foldable display on a phone, as it stretches across the entire front of the device when folded, without any bezels on either side. It’s also a Quad HD+ Super AMOLED display with an eye-popping 1,700 pixels per inch (PPI). The GALAXY Z Fold 4’s massive display looks great in person, and it has full, rich colors that appear more vibrant than the displays on other foldable phones. It’s also very bright and easy to read outdoors.
Good Battery Life
For a phone with a massive 7.7-inch display, the GALAXY Z Fold 4 has decent battery life. This is mostly due to the fact that it’s designed for use in a folded position. When folded, the screen will turn off, which also turns off the device’s ability to charge. In this position, it will last more than two days on standby, which is really impressive. When fully unfolded and in use, the GALAXY Z Fold 4 has a 4,500 mAh battery that can easily last a whole day of heavy use. Unfortunately, Samsung has removed the ability to swap out batteries or use an external battery pack. You’re stuck with the battery life the GALAXY Z Fold 4 provides.
A Solid Camera
The GALAXY Z Fold 4 has a dual-camera setup on the back, which is located on the inside of the device. This means that, when folded, the camera is on the inside of the device. This design decision is a bit awkward, but it works once you get used to it. When unfolded, the camera is located on the outside of the device. The GALAXY Z Fold 4 has a 16-megapixel (MP) ultra-wide-angle lens and a 12-MP telephoto lens. It can also capture 4K video at 30 fps. There are a few different modes you can use, including a super wide-angle mode that lets you fit more into the frame. When taking photos indoors, we found the GALAXY Z Fold 4 to produce vibrant, detailed images in a variety of lighting conditions.
Foldability Is Constantly Improving
There are a lot of issues with foldable phones, and Samsung is aware of this. They’re constantly working to improve the foldability of the GALAXY Z Fold 4. The first issue is a hardware problem. The GALAXY Z Fold 4 has a hinge that connects the front and back portions of the device. This hinge is visible and constantly in view when the phone is unfolded. Buttons are also located on the inside of the device. This isn’t ideal, but it does give the GALAXY Z Fold 4 a very futuristic look. The biggest issue with foldable phones is that you can’t fold them as often as a standard phone. If you fold it too often, the hinge will become loose and less effective. This will cause the phone to constantly open and close.

The Samsung GALAXY Z Fold 4 is the best foldable phone we’ve seen to date. It has the features and functionality you would expect from a high-end smartphone, including a massive display, long battery life and a solid camera. The GALAXY Z Fold 4 is a futuristic device that is unlike anything else on the market. Although there are a few hardware issues with the design of the phone, it’s easy to overlook them when you consider everything the GALAXY Z Fold 4 has to offer. As foldable phones become more popular, prices will inevitably fall and competition will increase. When that happens, the GALAXY Z Fold 4 will be an even more attractive option.
